PIANO DAY has been an ongoing passion project for FLOAT’s founder Sofia Ilyas who was part of the original small team that launched International Piano Day alongside celebrated artist Nils Frahm. With experience running Erased Tapes - Frahm’s label - for five years and curating annual PIANO DAY events at the National Gallery in London FLOAT has become a champion for contemporary piano music worldwide.
The Melbourne edition of PIANO DAY was first launched during the brief lifting of COVID restrictions creating a unique space for audiences to immerse themselves in local piano compositions. Due to overwhelming demand the event has continued annually fostering a thriving community of piano enthusiasts. Now in its fifth year FLOAT continues to spotlight Melbourne’s most compelling piano artists.
