About this Event
What if healthcare institutions pitched their challenges to you?
At Flip the Pitch, hospitals and healthcare organizations present their real, pressing challenges directly to startups and scale-ups. No classic startup pitching! This time, the roles are reversed.
This first edition brings together healthcare decision-makers and innovators for a focused, hands-on exchange.
Youβll hear concrete needs straight from hospitals and healthcare institutions, connect with decision-makers, and explore opportunities for collaborations or pilot projects.
Who is this for?
Startups and scale-ups β HealthTech and non-HealthTech (!) β with solutions that can make healthcare more efficient, safer, or more user-friendly.
What kind of solutions?
From smart administrative automation, AI, and data exchange to digital screening, logistics optimization, and remote monitoring. If your solution solves real operational problems, this event is for you!
Pitching organizations:
- Ziekenhuis Oost-Limburg (ZOL)
- Jessa Hospital
- Wit-Gele Kruis Limburg
In cooperation with Sint-Oda.

Intro
Challenge #1
Host: Ben Dilen - ZOL
Info: Administrative tasks in healthcare are currently so extensive that they place a heavy burden on care providers. This results in less time and attention for actual patient care.
Challenge #2
Host: Jan Van Hoecke (revalidatie) - ZOL
Info: It is difficult to screen, monitor (risk detection), and link patients to personalized care pathways in a standardized and efficient way. As a result, patients may not always receive the right care at the right time.
Challenge #3
Host: Anke Schuermans - JESSA
Info: When patients are discharged from the hospital, the transfer of nursing data to, for example, home care is often problematic. This hampers smooth and safe continuity of care.
Challenge #4
Host: Thijs Nelis - JESSA
Info: Nurses, care workers, and other care providers face challenges in assessing, treating, and reporting wounds. This can lead to suboptimal wound care and reporting.
Challenge #5
Host: Steve Andries - WGKL
Info: The logistical planning of nursing home care is not efficient enough, making the organization and execution of thousands of care assignments per year complex and time-consuming.
Challenge #6
Host: Cinzia Vinckenroye - WGKL
Info: There is a lack of reliable methods to remotely monitor the patency of catheters and infusion therapy and to alert in time when problems arise. This can pose risks to patient safety.
Challenge #7
Host: Leen Hulshagen - Sint Oda
Info: Timely and reliable detection of epileptic seizures in people with intellectual disabilities is very difficult, especially at night or when there is no direct supervision. Due to atypical brain activity and various types of seizures, episodes are often missed, which poses risks to the safety and well-being of clients.
π: 12:00 AM - 02:00 PM
Lunch & networking
Info: During this networking lunch, you will have the chance to talk to the decision makers, people experiencing the challenges on the floor, partner organisations, etc. Take the chance to meet all of these interesting people in the room. We are happy to introduce you.
