TIME: 5:00-5:30 Light Dinner and Childcare Sign-in5:30-7:00 pm Workshop
LOCATION: Homer Central School District H-Tec Conference Room, 80 S. West Rd. Homer
This workshop is FREE and open to all area schools, agencies and families - not just Homer families, and is appropriate for Parents, Guardians, Caregivers and Teaching Staff.
Child care is limited to Homer families only!
Tammy Goddard, Certified Trainer, Devereux Center for Resilient Children with an educational background in Early Childhood and Early Care will present on FLIP IT. There are four supportive steps that are embodied in FLIP IT which stands for Feelings, Limits,
Inquiries, and Prompts. FLIP IT helps to promote social and emotional development through a strategy that is easy to remember, applicable in a variety of situations and is portable.
Participants will explore how to implement each of the four steps by learning what to say and why we say it. The tool helps adults respond positively to everyday challenges and challenging behaviors in children of all ages. FLIP IT is known to decrease children's challenging behaviors, including anxiety, withdrawal and aggressive behaviors, increase children's positive behaviors and improves parenting behaviors and decrease parents' beliefs that their children are difficult to manage.
This workshop is hosted by Homer Central School District's Family and Community Liaison service.
