Sam is accompanied in this work by Alix Hamilton and they are presenting a program of West Australian compositions for viola and piano, inspired by the natural beauty of our stunning state.
The work follows the imagined journey of a Birrin Birrin -the Noongar name for the Rainbow Bee-eater. The program features Sam’s newly composed six-movement suite for viola and piano. Each movement reflects a different chapter of the bird’s adventure, capturing the colours, rhythms, and spirit of the land through music.
