FLIF Annual Lecture 2026
About this Event
In 1715, the architect Colen Campbell published the first volume of Vitruvius Britannicus – a celebration of major British buildings from the previous fifty years. The third design featured is Campbell’s own unexecuted design for a church for Lincoln’s Inn Fields – a building which would have dwarfed every other church in the capital. The design tells us much about church building in early C18th London, contemporary architectural controversies and about Campbell himself: themes which will be explored in this lecture by Dunstan Speight, Librarian of Lincoln’s Inn.
