Parenting isn’t just about keeping the kids from dying before they turn eighteen. It’s about building souls. You aren’t raising a pet to keep on a leash, or managing an escape room—you’re shaping an eternal soul, and that’s dangerous business. Every meal you serve, every tantrum you discipline,every diaper you change, every story you read at bedtime is a chisel blow on the marble of their future. You are building immortals destined for eternity. The only question is what will they be made of?The modern parent aims for survival. All you gotta do is keep them alive long enough to send them to college and then you’re free to retire. The faithful parent aims for dominion. Your home is a bootcamp for future men and women who will either storm the gates of Hell or walk peacefully through them. We need to stop acting like our job is just to keep them from breaking a few bones or doing drugs (although not doing drugs is good). We are called to raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord—with joy, with grit, and with a vision for great-great-great-grandchildren who will call upon His name.
