Rafael Campallo (Flamenco Dancer)
One of Spain's most acclaimed flamenco dancers, Rafael Campallo is celebrated for his impeccable technique, rhythmic mastery, and commanding stage presence. A native of Seville, he won the prestigious Premio Desplante in 1999 and has performed with leading artists including Vicente Amigo and María Pagés. He continues to tour internationally while preserving the rich traditions of Sevillian flamenco.
Juani de la Isla (Flamenco Guitarist)
Juani de la Isla is one of Spain's foremost flamenco guitarists, known for his extraordinary artistry as both a soloist and accompanist. He has performed and recorded with legendary artists including José Mercé, Sara Baras, Manuela Carrasco, Cristina Hoyos, and El Barrio, appearing on more than 300 recordings. He currently serves as Musical Director of Casa Flamenca and leads the Juani de la Isla Quartet.
Diego Amador Jr. (Flamenco Singer)
Born into the legendary Amador family of Seville, Diego Amador Jr. represents the third generation of one of flamenco's most influential musical dynasties. A versatile singer and multi-instrumentalist, he has toured internationally with leading flamenco artists and released his debut album, Presente en el Tiempo. In 2023, he joined the international tour of Amador Rojas and the Royal Ballet of Madrid.
Carmen Montes (Flamenco Dancer)
Known as La Chispa ("The Spark"), Carmen Montes is an award-winning flamenco dancer whose artistry has earned praise from critics across the United States. After extensive training in Spain with renowned flamenco masters, she received the prestigious Kresge Artist Fellowship in Performing Arts. She is the Executive and Artistic Director of Casa Flamenca in Albuquerque, where she continues to perform, teach, and inspire new generations of artists.
Flamenco! Santa Barbara is nonprofit organization led by artistic director, Maria Bermudez.
Our work is rooted in expanding opportunities for audiences to engage with the art of flamenco through authentic experiences, student scholarships, educational programming, and year round dynamic performances that enrich Santa Barbara’s cultural landscape.
