Flamenco al Cielo — Honoring Gopal Slavonic & Nina Menéndez

On October 12th, the Bay Area flamenco community will unite for an extraordinary evening of artistry, passion, and remembrance. We gather to celebrate the lives and legacies of two of our most cherished and influential figures: Gopal Slavonic, brilliant flamenco guitarist, and Nina Menéndez, visionary producer and tireless advocate for the art of flamenco.

Their unexpected passing—few days apart in July and August 2025—has left a profound void in our hearts, on our stages, and across the global flamenco family.

This is more than a concert. It is a heartfelt homage to Gopal Slavonic and a tribute to Nina Menendez, a shared expression of grief and gratitude, and a reaffirmation of the community they helped shape. More than a dozen exceptional flamenco artists, representing some of the highest caliber talent you will find anywhere in the United States, have volunteered to perform without fee. They come together out of deep love for Gopal and Nina, offering their artistry as a gift to honor their memory.

There is no upper limit—your generosity will allow us not only to honor these remarkable artists with proper support for their dedication, but also to ensure that this tribute reaches the standard of excellence Gopal and Nina always championed.
