Flag Day & Elder Abuse Awareness EventJoin us as we come together to honor Flag Day and raise awareness about an important issue affecting older adults in our community. This special event will celebrate our nation’s flag while also shining a light on Elder Abuse Awareness. Please join us in wearing purple to promote respect, dignity, and protection for older adults.
The event will feature Zach Migura, Executive Director and County Veterans Service Officer for the Wood County Veterans Service Office, as the keynote speaker. Migura will lead a meaningful observance of Flag Day while highlighting the importance of honoring those who have served our country.
In addition to the Flag Day recognition, the event will focus on raising awareness of elder abuse—an issue that continues to grow in Wood County. In 2025, there were 460 Adult Protective Services (APS) investigations in Wood County, an increase of 72 cases from 2024, when 388 investigations were conducted. This rise highlights the continued need for community education, vigilance, and support to ensure the safety and well-being of our seniors.
The program will include a brief recognition of Flag Day, along with information and resources to help identify, prevent, and respond to elder abuse. Together, we can make a difference by supporting and protecting older adults in our community.
Light refreshments will be served.
We hope you will join us for this meaningful and informative event as we celebrate, learn, and stand together for our seniors.
