FIU Symphony Orchestra and Choirs: Bach’s Magnificat
About this Event
Experience the brilliance, dramatic energy, and expressive power of J.S. Bach live in Miami. Written during Bach’s first year in Leipzig and later revised into the D-major version known today, the Magnificat opens with trumpets, timpani, orchestra, and five-part chorus in a burst of radiant sound.
Across twelve concise movements, Bach moves from festive choruses to intimate solo arias, shaping Mary’s song of praise with vivid word painting, rhythmic urgency, and remarkable emotional range. Conducted by Javier José Mendoza, the FIU Symphony Orchestra and Choirs bring together chorus, vocal soloists, and orchestra for a major School of Music performance. It offers South Florida audiences an evening of Bach at his most vivid: grand in scale, rich in feeling, and immediate in impact.
