FIU Opera Theater presents Three American Portraits

This February 5 & 6, the FIU Opera Theater invites you to experience an evening of three short American operas, brought to life with a vibrant 1950s-inspired production. Each opera tells a unique story, full of emotion, wit, and charm:

• Samuel Barber’s A Hand of Bridge
  Two bored couples, stuck in their routine game of bridge, fantasize about their lives, revealing their most intimate fears and desires.
• Hugo Weisgall’s The Stronger
  A setting of August Strindberg’s one-act play, this Expressionist monodrama depicts a sharp and compelling battle of wits between two former professional and personal rivals.
• Douglas Moore’s Gallantry
  A hilarious parody of a 1950s television soap opera, this comic opera comes complete with melodramatic characters and live commercials, delivering a delightful dose of humor and nostalgia.
