Fitzwilliam String Quartet: Mozart, Beethoven, Fribbins
About this Event
From Mozart’s youthful freshness to the deeply personal world of Beethoven’s final quartet, this programme brings together three very different musical voices.
Mozart’s Quartet in F K.590 is full of energy, elegance and invention. Between Mozart and Beethoven comes a new work by Peter Fribbins, inspired by Dowland’s famous Lachrymae and its hauntingly beautiful meditation on loss and longing. Beethoven’s Quartet in F, Op. 135, written near the end of his life, is by turns intimate, playful and profound, and closes the programme with one of his most enigmatic and original works.
