FITBANKER Trek: Maidenhead to Marlow (November 09, 2024)

Come and join us for this beautiful walk along a very pretty stretch of the Thames, taking in the beauty of crisp winter morning and changing colors of autumn leaves, ending the walk in beautiful Marlow with a hot cuppa - an opportunity to mingle with the community and get connected with FITBANKER coaches & trek leaders

Date and Time: Saturday, 18th November 9:30 - 15:00 GMT

Meeting point: Maidenhead Railway station

End Point: Chequers Pub, 53 High St, Marlow SL7 1BA

Distance: Approx 14 Km

Intensity: Easy to moderate, Aimed for all ages, this walk is about fun and meeting the rest of the FITBANKER Family

To begin with, the walk takes a somewhat prosaic route for a mile or so through Maidenhead to get to the river by Brunel’s famous Maidenhead Rail Bridge, the widest brick arch ever built. The route then follows the Thames Path to Cookham, with the beautiful wooded escarpment of the Cliveden estate on the far side of the river. The walk climbs up onto an escarpment with fine views of the Thames Valley. Finally, you descend into Marlow, a pretty eighteenth-century town with lots of tea choices.

The Meeting time is 9:15 am at Maidenhead Railway station. Expected completion 3:00 pm

For those driving in you could either park at the start or completion station destination and take a cab to the other station.

For all those catching the train/Elizabeth line, we can get the train back from Marlow to Maidenhead or share a cab back to Maidenhead station for the journey back into London.

Note: Train tickets are a separate cost to your registration and to be booked by yourself

ITINERARY

9:15 am - Meet at Maidenhead railway station

9:30 am – Start the walk

3:00 pm Approx - Finish at Chequers Pub, 53 High St, Marlow SL7 1BA

NOTES:

Wear good comfortable footwear (no open shoes)

Bring waterproofs (as required) and your own drinks (water/hot drink in a thermos) and snacks(e.g. protein bars/nuts/banana).

Who can do FITBANKER Treks?

Anyone! The age range on our treks is from 4 months to 73 years old - we are committed to bringing communities together, creating new socializing norms, new quality 'family time', having individuals experience new adventures, enjoy nature, and connect with like-minded leaders. All fitness levels are welcome, especially if you have never done a trek before - we would love to meet you and have you discover your limitless Self! Of course, pets are welcome too.
