Info: Ever wondered how a simple idea turns into a fully functional competition robot? In this session, Olivia and Spencer will break down the Engineering Design Process (EDP) into practical, team-tested steps that anyone can follow. Whether you’re new to robotics or trying to bring more structure to your build season, we’ll give you a solid foundation for using the EDP in your team’s workflow.

We’ll walk through the six core steps of the process — from defining the problem to presenting solutions — and explain what each step looks like in the context of an FTC season. You’ll hear real examples of how our team used the EDP to overcome challenges, revise plans, and build smarter. Most importantly, we’ll show how iteration is not failure — it’s a powerful part of the process.

Leave with a flexible framework you can use in your next brainstorming session, prototype sprint, or coding challenge.
