Fisherman's Wharf Pier 45 Behind the Scenes

Join us for an early morning behind-the-scenes tour of Fisherman’s Wharf Pier 45 fisheries.

Meet at Alioto-Lazio Fish Company, renowned supplier of Fishermen’s Wharf crab. Then we’ll head to Pier 45 to get the down-low on SF’s wholesale fish business. We’ll learn what sustainable fishing entails, and meet some local fishers, buyers, and processors. Curious about that fire a few years ago? You’ll hear about it.

If things go as hoped, we will witness crab being unloaded to the dock. The tour will conclude with a visit to Greenling, SF’s new fish market, featuring 100% traceable and sustainably caught fish -- a chance to pick up Saturday night dinner.

This tour is not for the faint of heart. You will see some nitty gritty parts of the fishing industry, and maybe even get a peek into a cutting room.

Dress in layers. Non-slip footwear is mandatory. The walking surfaces in these places are wet and slippery.

Please be on time. Space is limited to 20 people. If you must cancel, PLEASE do so at least 48 hours in advance so we can move someone up from the wait list. No shows will be snarled at.
