First2 Network Fall 2024 Conference

Join us to learn about promising practices for retaining rural, first-generation, and other underrepresented STEM students in West Virginia and beyond.

This conference will focus on:

1. Fostering a culture of learning and collaboration between administrators, student success professionals, First2 institutional team members, and STEM industry professionals.
2. Promoting interdisciplinary approaches for systems change work aimed at improving and sustaining first-generation and underrepresented STEM student success.
3. Engaging in discussions about national, state and institutional policies that impact STEM students and identifying actionable steps for advancing meaningful policy changes.
4. Understanding the impact First2 has had on our partner institutions and how we can further measure and communicate this both within and outside the network.
5. Highlighting success stories from our institutional teams.
6. Skill-building in student academic and professional development including resume building, policy advocacy, student engagement/advising, and understanding STEM industry insights.

Our Higher Education Administrator Workshop Sessions will be held FRIDAY NOVEMBER 1st 11:00am-3:30pm but all are welcome to attend.

Our sessions Friday 3:30pm-4:30pm and Saturday 9:00am-3:00pm will be focused on First2 institutional teams/students but again, all are welcome to attend.

If you will be attending all or part of the conference in-person, First2 Network will cover your hotel room at our conference venue as long as rooms are still available; the booking link for this will be provided on the confirmation page and in your confirmation email from Eventbrite.

Please register and (if applicable) reserve your room by OCTOBER 18th.

All content sessions will also be offered virtually. When registering, you will complete a form indicating which sessions you are planning to attend in-person and/or virtually so we can provide you with relevant information prior to the conference.
