About this Event

NEW TO SFU FACULTY OF SCIENCE?

Have you been admitted to SFU's Faculty of Science at the Burnaby Campus but not yet chosen a specific major program? Are you wondering what courses to take? How to create the best schedule? How to get the most out of your time at SFU?



WE'RE HERE TO HELP!

Join us in-person or online for an interactive session where you’ll get essential tips on planning your courses and making the most of your first year at SFU. Meet your Faculty Academic Advisors, and experienced Faculty of Science students who will share their wisdom and help you plan for your first term at SFU. Come with entropy, leave with equilibrium!

At our session, you will:

  • Receive guidance on course planning, BSc degree requirements, and enrollment;
  • Learn how to build an effective schedule to prepare for enrollment;
  • Discover helpful resources and ways to get involved;
  • Have the chance to ask questions to an Academic Advisor or participate in an in-person tour of the various hot spots at Burnaby Campus relevant to students in the Faculty of Science! (2:30pm - 3:30pm)



TARGET AUDIENCE:

Newly admitted undergraduates who are beginning their studies at SFU Burnaby* Campus this Fall 2026, and who are:

  • "undeclared" in the Faculty of Science - you are admitted to the Faculty of Science but not in a specific major program*, or
  • seeking an "internal transfer" to the Faculty of Science - were admitted to a different Faculty, but are interested in eventually pursuing a new program in the Faculty of Science

*Note: if you are directly admitted to/declared in a specific major program in the Faculty of Science (e.g. Biomedical Physiology or Kinesiology), you’re still welcome to attend, but we encourage you to connect to the advising sessions and services offered by your department where available.

*Faculty of Science students starting their studies at specifically should register for the on Tuesday, June 24 (6pm-7pm) or connect directly with Nadia Williams - [email protected].



ACCESSIBILITY:

You may attend this hybrid event in-person or online. Please select your ticket accordingly.

Limited in-person tickets are available on a first-come-first serve basis. If you're unable to join us in-person, reserve an ticket for online attendance to view the livestream, through which you may still participate and ask questions to our advisors and student panel.

If attending this event online, access to Zoom on a computer, tablet, or phone is required. Please download Zoom in preparation for the event. The Zoom meeting link will be emailed to you after registering for an online ticket.
