Every first Wednesday of the month we meet at Five Points Center for Active Adults to read and discuss original poems prose and spoken word. This free event is open to adults 18+ through the Raleigh Recs Department.
While we encourage original work, you may bring authors you find interesting, even song lyrics have been read. There is no obligation to read, listeners are welcome.
We will begin with three poems or five minutes of prose or spoken word each. Usually there are comments from participates, discussion of the subject, etc., but no critiques. This is a mentoring and nurturing group. If we have time, we will make another round of reading, so be prepared with another piece.
Pre-registration through Raleigh RecLink is helpful but not necessary. Either way be sure to stop at the reception desk when you arrive. Marking your attendance with the facility assures the continued use of this space for no charge. Sign-up to read and to socialize begins at 2:30 and we will start reading at 3 until 4:30.
This is a non-amplified open mic in a small room setting, just right for discussion and sharing
