First-Time Fostering: A Book Talk & Community Conversation
About this Event
Drawing from her experience as a therapeutic foster parent and mentor, Laura has built a supportive community dedicated to helping new foster parents navigate the realities of foster care with confidence and compassion. Through practical advice, trauma-conscious insights, and honest storytelling, she empowers caregivers to feel prepared for the journey ahead.
During this event, Laura will be joined in conversation by Leslie Jeter-Wass, Ohio NYAP Foster Parent Training Manager, to discuss the inspiration behind First-Time Fostering, key lessons from the book, and the realities of fostering. Laura will share the inspiration behind First-Time Fostering, discuss key takeaways from the book, and answer a selection of pre submitted audience questions.
This conversation is designed for prospective foster parents, newly licensed foster parents, current caregivers, educators, social workers, and anyone interested in learning more about foster care.
📚 Books will be available for purchase and signing following the talk.
Have a question for Laura? Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance, and Laura will answer a curated selection during the event.
Whether you're considering fostering for the first time or simply want to better understand the foster care experience, we hope you'll join us for this informative and encouraging community conversation.
