First Stitches: Sewing for Beginners

Learn the basics of sewing at First Stitches: Sewing for Beginners, a hands-on course led by SEWN by Sisters seamstress Nancy Johnson. The class covers threading a needle, using a sewing machine, understanding fabrics and completing simple projects. No experience is needed. Participants are encouraged to bring their own sewing machine, as access to available machines will be limited.
Classes are offered Saturdays, Sept. 5, Oct. 3 and Nov. 7, from 9 a.m.–noon at the Lincoln Recreation Center. The program is for ages 16 and older and costs $10 for residents and $12 for non-residents. Registration ends the Monday before each class.
