We normally go to help a local non-profit, but occasionally, we will do a project for the community. First responders play an incredibly important role in the community. They are always there for us, usually on our worst days. Sometimes, they even put their lives at risk. To thank them, Volunteering Across Nicholasville (VAN) is organizing a community potluck to bring food/snacks and thank you cards to all the local first responder offices in the Nicholasville city limits. I have made a lot of calls and did my very best to find every location that we can drop things off at on a Saturday. We will be going to EMS, 911 Dispatch, Police, and the Fire Stations (including county offices that are in city limits). There will be 8 drop-off points for 9 offices to thank approximately 85 first responders that will be working that Saturday. There is a sign up link for the food so we can plan appropriately. I don't want anyone to have to give up any personal dishes, so I'm doing my best to provide a way to repackage everything in aluminum pans or ziplocs depending on the item.

Here is the rough itinerary for the event. Timing can vary based on how quickly we package the food to go to separate offices.
10:00 am - Meet at library and set up tables
10:15 am - Signing thank you cards (kids can do artwork for their own thank you notes) & divvying up food into containers for the separate offices going into the appropriate box/bag labeled for that delivery drop off
11:00 am - Clean up room and put away tables/chairs
11:15 am - Deliver food and thank you cards to the offices so they can enjoy it with lunch.
We can carpool or car caravan. The library room reservation ends at 11:30 am, so do not leave any personal belongings behind in the room.
