We are looking forward to the start of the Fall season for the Rochester Women’s Community Chorus! We are looking for both singers and non-singing volunteers for our Fall concert.
Singers: All persons 18 and older who can sing in the soprano or alto range and are comfortable singing under the Rochester Women’s Community Chorus “banner” are welcome and encouraged to sing with us regardless of any prior musical training or experience.
Volunteers: We have numerous opportunities for new non-singing members to join our group and assist us with tasks such as ticket sales, stage/house management, reception, raffle, concert production, publicity, fundraising, outreach, etc. Look for other emails later in the season about non-singing participation opportunities if you may be interested!
Our first rehearsal of the new season is Tuesday, September 9, 2025 for the upcoming Fall concert. Rehearsals are from 6:30 - 8:45 pm with a short break about halfway through practice for announcements and socializing. New singers are encouraged to arrive at their first rehearsal between 6:10 and 6:15 for voice placement with the music director. Anyone who is interested in joining as a singer is welcome to start from 9/9 through the 3rd week of rehearsals on 9/23. For our returning members, music distribution will start at 6:00 pm on 9/9.
Rehearsals and Contacts: We rehearse at the Downtown United Presbyterian Church (DUPC) (121 N. Fitzhugh St., Rochester, N.Y. 14614), which has an ADA-compliant elevator. Our telephone number is: (585) 376-SING (7464), our email is [email protected], and our website link is http://www.therwcc.org.
We have a Remind group which is a broadcast-only text message that goes out weekly with rehearsal reminders and, when necessary, cancellation notices. If you are interested in rehearsing with us, consider signing up at: https://www.remind.com/join/47bf23.
Dues: Dues for singers for the season range from $50-$90. We do not turn singers away due to financial considerations. We can work something out, so please come and meet us!
Music: The RWCC will provide all music for our upcoming/current season. Singers may choose to use either paper or digital copies.
If you are planning on using paper copies and you can print your own paper copies of the music the chorus has bought digital copies of, please indicate this in your registration. If you don’t have access to a printer and want to use paper music, let us know so our music librarian can print you a copy.
If you would like to use digital copies of the music, you will be responsible for providing your own device and sheet music software. We recommend using either of these apps for digital sheet music. A one-time charge applies to each of these apps:
- Mobile Sheets (Android and iOS)
- ForScore (iOS only)
If you are interested in singing with us in the September – January semester, please sign up with the registration form. This applies to both new and returning participants.

Perfume and Masking: RWCC is committed to maintaining a healthy community. For allergy and asthma reasons, please do not wear perfumes, essential oils, or scented lotions to practice. We rehearse in a peanut-free room. We follow all disease-related requirements of our practice and performance locations, as well as the best practices recommended by the Eastman School of Music. We reserve the right to go stricter than the venue based on current conditions. We support members who choose to wear masks, but do not require them. If you are feeling ill at any point in the rehearsal or performance schedule, or if you or someone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19, please stay home and observe all recommended protocols.
