“In the hundred-plus years since its end, the Hatfield-McCoy feud has continued to fascinate generations. It was originally, and for many years after, told as a story of two drunken, illiterate, and murderous hillbilly families who took to killing each other for no other reason than they enjoyed it. But the feud was so much more than that: a volatile mix of politics, family pride, jealousy and revenge, and the morals and customs of its time and place, with a healthy mixture of Romeo and Juliet tragically interwoven into the story. It is, perhaps most of all, the story of two stubborn men who failed to understand each other. Now, actor and living historian Gavin Kelly brings one of these legendary figures to life, as the feud leader “Devil Anse” Hatfield looks back on the causes, tragedies, and enduring legacy of the most infamous family feud in American history.”
