On Thursday, September 10, CICA Vancouver invites you to experience First Light after dark with DJ Rob Yu (@yu_sound_). From to 7 PM to 10 PM, the gallery will become a lively meeting place for music, contemporary art, artists, collectors, and the wider community.
Held inside the current First Light exhibition, the event offers a new way to experience art: social, energetic, and open-ended. Guests are invited to move through the galleries, enjoy the exhibition, meet participating artists, connect with fellow art lovers, and spend an evening surrounded by an amazing community of art and artists. Whether you are planning to collect a piece by emerging talent or simply looking for a memorable night out, First Light After Dark is designed to make the gallery feel welcoming, accessible, and fun.
First Light brings together more than 30 artists and more than 70 works across painting, photography, ceramics, printmaking, mixed media, lens-based media, and sculpture. The exhibition supports artists as they develop professional visibility, engage with new audiences, and build relationships with collectors. During the event, guests will have the opportunity to ask questions about the artworks, speak with staff about collecting, and learn how to purchase works on view.
DJ Rob Yu will bring AFRO HOUSE & LATIN HOUSE DJ Set for the evening, creating a relaxed atmosphere for conversation, discovery, and movement. Bar service will be available throughought the night, with Special Menu brought by Deco Nova. Music and gallery programming will continue until 10 PM.
Yu is a Vancouver-based DJ and producer known for energetic, groove-driven house and techno sets. With a background in classical music, he brings musicality, atmosphere, and natural progression to every performance.
