About this Event
Note: In light of the week's events, the May 3 First Friday will be simpler and will have a different, more conversational format structured to process together and rest.
Free dinner and non-alcoholic cocktails (mocktails) for students at this open mic on the first Friday of each month!
- Doors open for dinner and drinks at 7pm
- Open mic starts at 7:30 (bar closed)
- Open mic wraps up and bar re-opens at 8:30
- Stay as long as you want, until clean up around 10
During the winter, this event is held in the basement of an old German church on the Upper East Side. Enter down the outside steps to the right of the building.
Some sets may be religious, others may not. Past presenters have come from Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, and skeptic perspectives. The main ask of all presenters is to share something that connects with your personal story and perhaps your search for meaning. It's a safe place to explore that no matter the faith or non-faith background you come from. We gather to build relationships with each other and to participate in a culture where expression is easy.
Sets may consist of storytelling, poetry, or music.
Advent Collegiate is completely free to college students in New York City thanks in part to support from Seventh-day Adventists. We welcome questions, dialogue, and you. No matter what.
