Join us for an evening of creativity & community during First Fridays in McHenry!
Hello Darling Books & Beyond is excited to partner with McHenry Rocks for a fun family event where you’ll paint your own rock and then take it home to hide somewhere in McHenry for someone else to discover. It’s a simple way to spread smiles, encourage kindness, and brighten someone’s day!

To join:
$10 – Ages 10 & Up
$5 – Kids under 10 years old
Your registration includes:
One rock to paint ($2 pp for extra rocks during event)
All painting supplies
Plenty of creativity and fun!
We’ll also have Melbaritos Mobile Bar serving delicious MOCKTAILS available for purchase while you paint.
⭐ Find the Golden Darling Rock! ⭐
Hello Darling will also hide one special Golden Darling Rock somewhere in McHenry after the event. Find it and bring it back to the bookshop to redeem it for a Hello Darling gift card!
Make it a full First Friday evening! Explore the Riverwalk, visit the other participating local shops staying open late, enjoy the community festivities, and create a memory together with family and friends.
Whether you’re 5 or 95, everyone is welcome. We can’t wait to paint, laugh, and spread a little kindness throughout McHenry...one rock at a time!
