First Fridays at the Sol is where grown folks come to listen to live jazz, dance and have a great time. Our featured artist for September is "The Teodross Avery Group". As a musician, Dr. Teodross Avery (Teo) stands as one who defines live music—best experienced front row, and full throttle. His commanding presence, on stage and off, reflects his musical ingenuity and skill. With an outstanding pedigree, both professionally and academically, Teodross is a saxophonist to watch, as evidenced by many of today’s biggest names in music relying on his wide musical reach.
Teo won a full music scholarship at 17 to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. He holds a Master’s degree in Music from the prestigious Steinhardt School of Education at New York University and received a Doctorate in Jazz Studies (DMA) from the University of Southern California. Teo is currently the head of Jazz Studies at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
DJ Sidney Thompson will spin the dance music.
The Sol Lounge offers great sound & lighting, great ambience, drinks and food. We also have an outdoor patio area for cigar aficionados.
