Shapenote singing
Beginners and the shapenote-curious welcome: we will explain the basics but its best learned by doing.

Tea, coffee and biscuits.
Free but £5-10 donation towards cost of room hire invited if you can afford it
Access- Bell on door, not that loud inside so keep trying as we may not hear if we are singing.
Wheelchair access via ramp in front of hall. Accessible toilet off hall.
Door with bell is up 2 steps so not accessible to wheelchairs- ideally contact us in advance via FB so we can give you contact details to let us know you have arrived.
Travel Info:
By train: The nearest train station is Pollokshields East (c.2 min walk to venue – note there are stairs to exit the station)
By bus: 3, 4, 38 and 57 buses all stop near the venue at Coplaw St (c. 5 min walk to venue)
By subway: Either Bridge Street ( internet says 22 min walk to venue or get a bus down Eglinton Road- 3, 38, 38E ,57 , 57A all go that way- get off a Coplaw Street stop ) or Sheilds Road ( internet says 21 mins walk). The nearest subway stop is Shields Road (c. 20 min walk to venue)
By car: On-street parking is available in the streets around the venue (seems to be free!).
Geek notes: Doctor Syntax – not to be confused with the hip hop rapper – was a hybrid character of caricature and comic verse, and one of the first illustrated characters to have his own merchandise in England, the work of political caricaturist Doctor Thomas Rowlandson for Poetical Magazine, illustrating the writing of William Combe.
