Laurel Munson Boyer’s family moved to the Raymond area in 1890. She is the 5th generation to live and work in these foothills and eventually in Yosemite, where her great grandfather brought in the first phone lines and provided lodging for early park visitors. Her grandparents staffed the fire lookout on Deadwood in their young marriage, and Laurel’s parents worked many years in Yosemite before moving to Oakhurst. Laurel was born in Yosemite Valley and has lived inside the park for almost 60 years, culminating in a wonderful career as the park’s first female wilderness manager.Laurel will be sharing stories of her life, including how and why our most precious wild public lands are protected. Join her on Friday, August 2 at 5:30 at the Fresno Flats Historic Park for a presentation and Q and A session.
