First Friday at Magnolia: Community, Conversation & Civic Connection
About this Event
What if being more informed didn't have to feel overwhelming?
What if conversations about what's happening in our communities could bring people together instead of pulling them apart?
That's the spirit behind September's First Friday at Magnolia.
This month, we're welcoming Lily Oatis, founder of Not Just Headlines Media, for an evening centered around community, civic engagement, and meaningful conversation.
Lily created Not Just Headlines Media after experiencing a moment many people can relate to: she went to vote in a local election and realized she couldn't recognize a single name on the ballot.
Instead of letting that feeling stop her, she decided to create something that could help other people feel more informed and empowered.
Today, Lily hosts The Room Where It Happens, where she sits down with political candidates, experts, and community leaders to break down important issues happening in local communities.
Her goal is simple: make civic engagement feel more approachable, connected, and human.
