First Friday "Building Bridges: Portraits of Immigrants and Refugees" Photography Display

This exhibit introduces you to individuals and families from all over the world who have come to the United States as immigrants, refugees, and asylum-seekers. Many have been citizens for a long time; others have arrived on our shores recently and and eagerly give so much of themselves - their time, talent, strong work ethic and ingenuity - as they hope to become American citizens in the future. Explore the photographs and stories of all of these people who generously agreed to share their experiences, their lives, and their ideas to help us understand that we are all a human family. Created by the Family Diversity Project, the exhibit features photography by Mark Chester and Gigi Kaeser, with interviews by Peggy Gillespie and is co-hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Dubuque, Dubuque for Refugee Children, Presentation Lantern Center, and the Jac Tilton Memorial Art Education Fund. First Fridays is a free downtown monthly community arts event with open galleries, artists’ studios, and live entertainment, fostering community and celebrating arts in Dubuque.
