About this Event
Join us on Christmas Eve at 11.00 pm for this late-night service celebrating the birth of Christ, the Light of the World, in the midst of darkness. It includes the singing of Christmas Carols, music from the Abbey Choir, a sermon and Holy Communion, lasting about an hour and 15 minutes.
Tickets are free but limited to a maximum of 2 per person, to ensure as many people are able to attend as possible.
Applying for tickets
Tickets for this First Eucharist of Christmas at the Abbey are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to a maximum of 2 tickets per person. The service may book up quickly, but if you are not successful in securing tickets initially, tickets may become available if we receive cancellations so it is worth checking regularly. Once you have submitted your details, you will receive a confirmation email containing your e-tickets. Please ensure that you have entered your email address correctly so that this reaches you.
On the day
Seating is unallocated; the service has been designed so that everyone attending will have a chance to participate and enjoy it.
Doors will open one hour before the First Eucharist at 10.00 pm.
Security checks and bag searches are in operation, so please do allow extra time for this. Also ensure that you have a transport plan for reaching home afterwards, given the service is likely to finish at 12.15 am.
Access
The Abbey is accessible to all forms of wheelchair. If you have additional access requirements, please apply for your tickets online as above, and then contact us with your booking number and the nature of your access needs at [email protected]. The Abbey is equipped with a hearing induction loop system that covers the whole of the main building and we are able to provide large print Orders of Service.
The Service is suitable for all ages. Children aged 4 years and over will require tickets so do please include them in your application.
