MEETING PLACE:Beginning at City Park Pavilion on Park Ave. (only a half mile from the state park) at 1 p.m. For directions, enter “City Park Stone Ampitheater Mountain View, Arkansas” into your GPS.
DESCRIPTION:
Start the New Year off right with a hike along the Whitewater Creek Trail to the Ozark Folk Center from the historic Stone Amphitheater in Mountain View, Arkansas!
This guided hike includes stops at the Heritage Herb Garden, Craft Village, Shannon Cabin Homestead and the park’s 1,000-seat indoor music venue, Ozark Highlands Theater, where you'll have the opportunity to learn to square dance!
ENDING PLACE:
The hike will finish around 3 p.m. at the Rec Room in the Cabins Office, located at the Ozark Folk Center, for hot cocoa, coffee and a fun hands-on activity for kids. NOTE: This is a one-way hike. At the end of your First Day Hike, a park shuttle bus will return you to your vehicle at the City Park Stone Ampitheater.
SAFETY & HEALTH:
-The hike will be about 3 miles with some steep, wet and rocky terrain, as well as asphalt and concrete. Sturdy boots with ankle support are recommended.
-Bring water and dress appropriately for the weather. Bathrooms are available at the City Park and at the Ozark Folk Center.
