Weather permitting, step into the New Year right and head to Turkey Mountain for a First Day Guided Hike! Free Guided Tours will be led every half-hour starting on the hour from 8:30 am to 11:30 am thanks to volunteers from our Turkey Trail Team!
Those wishing to join the hike should meet at the main, lower, paved parking lot at 6851 S. Elwood Ave by the Turkey Welcome Sign, Big Horn Sheep Statue, and Restrooms. Tours will be approximately 2.2 miles and be moderate to moderately difficult. Very small children and those with mobility issues are encouraged to use our Faimly Gravel Trail "Tvlsi" or the paved trail instead of this moderately strenuous hike. Hikes will take about 1.5 hours. Sturdy shoes, weather appropriate clothing, and a water bottle highly encouraged.
Tours will be led every half hour from 8:30am to 11:30am.
First Day Hikes are part of a nationwide initiative led by America’s Parks to encourage people to get outdoors. Kids and adults all across America will be participating in First Day Hikes, getting their hearts pumping and enjoying the beauty of a Turkey Mountain.
People are invited to savor the beauty of the park’s natural resources so they may be inspired to take advantage of these local treasures throughout the year.
