Ring in the New Year with First Day Hike at Fort Ontario! This year, we partner with Safe Haven Holocaust Refugee Shelter Museum for a tour guided by current manager Matt MacVittie, and retired manager Paul Lear focusing on the property's time as the Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter. This is a FREE event with no tickets or preregistration required!
This tour is OUTSIDE! Remember to wear good shoes and dress appropriately for the weather (and then add an extra layer as it is windy near the lake).
If you are an annual First Day Hiker, please note that because this tour is guided, it will differ from our usual format and occur only at 9:00 AM and last approximately one hour.
The tour will begin January 1, 2026 at 9:00 AM. Meet in front of the Safe Haven Museum at 22 Barbara Donahue Drive, Oswego.
