Start 2025 off right with a New Year's Day -FIRST DAY HIKE! Join us for a brisk health/nature walk at beautiful Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts! Embrace the winter weather with a guided one-hour trail walk while enjoying the scenery at Wolf Trap National Park.
"First Day Hikes" is a tradition started by state park systems inviting everyone to take a hike in a park on January 1 to encourage healthy activities in the outdoors all year long. Whether you walk, run, or even bike or paddle, come out to explore the trails in your national parks too!
Cost: Free For our staffing planning, please only register if you are certain you can make this event.
Hike Length: 1.5 miles
Hike Difficulty: Moderate, with some uneven terrain. Trails are not stroller friendly. Children and well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Bathrooms: Main Entry
Meet: The Ranger Station to the left of the Filene Center Box Office. Parking available in the circle or near by lots. This guided walk leaves promptly at 11am and ends at 12 noon so please be on time.
Recommended items to bring/wear:
-Long pants and layers
-Upper body layers like a long-sleeved shirt and jacket
-Shoes or boots with traction
-Hat or beanie
-Gloves or mittens
-Hiking poles (optional)
-Adequate water
-Pet waste bags and adequate water
Cancelation Information:
For the safety of participants and staff, this program may be canceled due to inclement weather or a temperature of 30 degrees or below. Registered participants will be notified via email and event pages will be updated if the program is canceled.
Photo Rights: Participants agree their photo may be used in future marketing.
