The First Church Christmas Love Lights Season has begunLove Lights was started 8 years ago as another way to provide for community members to remember and celebrate their loved ones during the Christmas season. In The Love Lights Lighting Ceremony is held the first Sunday of Advent, and is our faith community’s start of the Christmas season. It is a celebration of our loved ones who have passed and those of family and friends in a simple ceremony of remembrance.
The First Church Love Light Tree, a beautiful living evergreen, is lit with Love Lights that have been donated this year in honor of loved ones. This gathering brings people across the community and beyond together in a powerful moment of love, caring, and remembering.
Since its beginning in 2017, the Love Lights program has grown to include many participants from The First Church members and community to members of surrounding communities as well as far beyond.
We invite all who wish to remember to take part in Love Lights.
Anyone interested may donate a light or a string of lights for the tree to honor someone special who has passed, a loved one or the loved one of a family member or friend. A card acknowledging the donation honoring this loved one may be sent to someone of the donor’s choosing as well. It is a very special, moving moment for a recipient when this card honoring the loved one arrives.
All are welcome to join us for the Love Light Ceremony on December 1st at 5:00pm on the front lawn of First Church. The Love Lights on the tree will continue to shine throughout the Christmas season, a gift of light for all to see and to remember loved ones by.

Donations for Love Lights are being accepted now.
The final deadline for these orders to be received is Friday, November 22, 2024. Pick up an order form at The First Church or the Belfast Chamber of Commerce office.
