What: Facilitated by the Australian Red Cross, this course is designed for parents and other carers of children. The program provides an opportunity to have interaction with a qualified first aid trainer and learn the essential skills and knowledge required to provide emergency first aid for common child related injuries and illnesses.This is course is designed to be an interactive information session for parents and other carers to learn about first aid for children, and not all topics are covered in depth.
Time: 9.30am - 1.30pm
The specific topics covered by the course include:
* Basic life support - DRSABCD
* Performing CPR
* Special techniques for children and infants
* Breathing emergencies including choking and asthma
* Severe allergic reaction
* Common childhood illnesses
* Shock
* Infection control
* Bleeding and wound care
* Safety considerations around the home
* There is no assessment for this course
