Fireside Sessions continue their January residency at Toales with another free-admission night of original music on Saturday, January 17th, featuring Julian Leavy alongside Sean Gilsenan. The show forms part of the expanded Fireside Sessions programme that has seen the series take over the venue throughout the month, presenting intimate, songwriter-led performances with no charge at the door.Throughout January, Fireside Sessions has moved beyond its usual weekly format, running every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Toales. The series has effectively established the venue as a temporary home for acoustic and stripped-back live music, bringing together local songwriters and nationally recognised artists in the close, attentive setting that has defined Fireside Sessions in past coverage. Admission remains free throughout the entire run, encouraging discovery and repeat visits.
Julian Leavy is a Dundalk-based songwriter whose music sits between folk intimacy and alt-indie grit. Shaped by a wide range of early influences—from soul, jazz and classic rock to blues and west coast sounds—his approach to songwriting is rooted in tone, groove and emotional honesty. Inspired early on by artists such as Jimi Hendrix, John Frusciante, James Taylor and Elliott Smith, Leavy blends acoustic warmth with layered guitars and reflective lyricism.
Also appearing on the night is Sean Gilsenan, a Dublin-based pop/folk singer-songwriter known for his melodic, story-led original songs. A multi-instrumentalist, he writes, records and performs his own material, blending contemporary folk sensibilities with accessible pop songwriting.
