About this Event

Fireside chat with Brian Lowery

What if the "self" isn't something you have, but something you build with others?

Professor Brian Lowery, The Walter Kenneth Kilpatrick Professor of Organizational Behavior at Stanford Graduate School of Business, has spent over two decades studying how people understand inequality and how we shape each other's sense of self. His book, Selfless, challenges the idea of an independent self and explores how relationships, identity and meaning are created together.

In this session, Professor Lowery will discuss:

  • How our understanding of inequality shapes our attitudes and behaviour
  • Why racial, gender and other social identities are shaped by those around us
  • How others help us find meaning in life
  • What this means for leaders building teams and organisations today
