Join us for an evening of Beltane history and Celtic storytelling, gathered around a fire in the historic gardens of Wentworth Woodhouse.Academics from The University of Sheffield’s Contemporary Folklore Research Centre, Dr Catherine Bannister, Dr Julia Bishop and Dr Yinka Olusoga, will explore the origins of Beltane and other spring festivals, uncovering how these traditions have evolved over time. Through interactive discussion and audience participation, we’ll piece together how families today welcome the return of warmer days.
As night falls over the gardens, stay close to the warmth of the fire and let our storyteller, Dee, bring the evening to a close with tales of times gone by and the rich history of Celts in and around the local area. A fascinating evening of history, folklore, and storytelling!
Food and drinks will be available to purchase on the evening from our outdoor catering van.
