About this Event
Pragya believes that art is a powerful tool for communication, one that helps us connect more deeply with ourselves and with those around us. She approaches art-making as a meditative and reflective process, free from judgment or the need for perfection.
This free-flowing workshop invites you to slow down, tune in, and create in your own way.
The session will include:
- A gentle grounding exercise to centre the mind
- Hands-on exploration of visual art techniques using a variety of materials
- A closing reflection to share insights and experiences
- Embracing an open, intuitive format. Simply come as you are, choose the materials that speak to you, and let your creativity guide you. There’s no right or wrong; just space to play, express, and feel grounded through art.
- All materials will be provided, but you're welcome to bring your own colouring tools, special papers, or any personal materials you'd like to use.
No prior experience in arts needed. People from all artistic backgrounds are welcome.
Please arrive 10 mins before the session for a prompt start at 1pm.
About Facilitator Pragya Kumar:
Pragya is a visual artist and community arts producer whose practice is deeply rooted in collaboration, inclusion, and creativity. Her passion lies in working with people, bringing communities together through participatory art projects and workshops that celebrate diversity and shared expression.
Drawing inspiration from her cultural heritage and the natural world, Pragya often works with organic and sustainable materials, exploring how nature can be both a medium and amuse. Her approach reflects a belief that art should be accessible to everyone, regardless of background or experience. Through her workshops and community initiatives, she encourages creativity as a means of connection, wellbeing, and empowerment.
Pragya’s projects have involved participants of all ages and cultural backgrounds, fostering spaces where creativity thrives and collective stories emerge. She strives to make art an inclusive experience, one that invites people to explore their surroundings, heritage, and imagination in meaningful ways.
Please note, our workshops remain open to all but hold a specific focus on LGBTQIA+, Global Majority and Neurodiverse communities from disadvantaged backgrounds, so please be aware and respectful of this when booking and attending.
These sessions have been designed with neurodiversity in mind and with a trauma-informed approach.
All sessions are relaxed, sensory aids will be available and a designated welfare volunteer will be present.
If you have any access requirements you would like to discuss with us in advance, please let us know and we can make provisions ahead of time if possible.
Please also note that the ‘Firepit Feels’ workshops are not a substitute for therapy but are creative, therapeutic tools.
Each workshop is pay-what-you-can, meaning, you can attend for free. Please be mindful when booking, and notify us at least 72hrs before the workshop date if you are no longer able to attend so we can give someone else the spot. Anything you do choose to donate will be channeled straight back into the community project.
