Join the Clayton Fire Department for its annual Fire Prevention Week Open House from 2 - 5 p.m., Sunday, October 11, at Clayton Fire Station 1 (325 West Horne Street). This family-friendly event is a chance to meet your Clayton firefighters, explore the fire station, and learn simple ways to help keep your family safe.
There will be plenty to see and do throughout the afternoon. Meet Sparky the Fire Dog and Ash from the Clayton Pup Patrol, explore an inflatable fire safety house, and visit a smoke house trailer to learn how to safely exit during a fire. You can also check out the fire trucks, see fire safety equipment and demonstrations, and talk with firefighters about smoke alarms, home escape plans, and other ways to prevent fires at home.
The Open House follows Fire Prevention Week, which runs October 4-10. This year’s campaign focuses on lithium-ion battery safety. These rechargeable batteries power many of the devices we use every day, including phones, laptops, power tools, e-bikes, and scooters. During the Open House, you can learn more about using and charging these devices safely and how to spot the warning signs of a battery that may be damaged.
Fire safety is important at every age and learning what to do before an emergency happens can make a difference. Bring the family, meet the people who help keep Clayton safe, and spend the afternoon learning about fire prevention together.
The Fire Prevention Week Open House is free and open to the community. Parking is available at Clayton Fire Station 1. We hope to see you there!
