Since its May 2025 release, Fire Over Shingle Street has resonated deeply with Suffolk audiences, with multiple sold-out screenings across the county. Tim Curtis' new documentary offers an intriguing investigation into the enduring Second World War mystery of Shingle Street with rumours of a foiled German invasion attempt, burning seas, and bodies on the beach.
The film draws on extensive research by James Hayward and Ron Clayton and also revisits a 1992 MOD whistleblower’s claim of suppressed files and a deadly friendly fire incident later in the war.
There'll be a Q&A after led by James who's researched the Shingle Street story for Anglia TV and the Sunday Telegraph and written several books about it.
