About this Event
William of York Lecture
It is a dangerous business to be a translator. It can involve the translator in deep theological disagreements, even to the point of violence and death. Biblical scholar and monk, Dom Henry Wansbrough, gives an illustrative talk on some occasions in Christian history where this has happened, starting with a riot in North Africa, through to heroes such as John Wycliffe, Thomas More, and William Tyndale, and ending with a personal experience.
