About this Event
This hands-on fermentation workshop introduces students to the science and art of preserving food through natural bacterial cultures. Participants will explore various fermentation techniques, understand the health benefits of consuming fermented foods, and learn how these traditional preservation methods enhance flavor while extending shelf life.
Students will master the fundamentals of vegetable fermentation and probiotic drink creation by making their own quick pickles and establishing a versatile ginger bug starter culture to take home. By the end of the class, attendees will have the skills and confidence to continue fermenting safely in their own kitchens, incorporating these living foods into their regular diet.
Fire Cider is a homebrewed tonic made by steeping citrus, ginger, garlic, onions, jalapenos, horseradish, cayenne & turmeric in apple cider vinegar for four to six weeks. Its beneficial properties have been used for generations.
Important: please bring two 16-ounce jars or one 32-ounce jar with sealable lid for your cider!
Don't forget a note pad and writing utensil to take notes. Ticket purchase includes a Lumber Society Fire Cider badge and free drink! Questions: email [email protected].
