Fiordland Tamatea Adventure - October 2026

Join us aboard Flightless, our 27-metre expedition vessel, for an unforgettable journey into the remote fiords of Dusky and Breaksea Sounds. This is more than an adventure – it’s your chance to directly support the ambitious Tamatea/Dusky Sound restoration project, with all profits going towards the cause.
The Tamatea project aims to eradicate pests, reintroduce missing species, and gather vital biodiversity knowledge across more than 700 islands – including Resolution Island, New Zealand’s fifth largest. The vision? To make Dusky Sound one of the most intact ecosystems on Earth, a living ‘bio bank’ where rare species can be nurtured and shared with pest-free sanctuaries nationwide.
While conservation is at the heart of this voyage, there’s no shortage of adventure. Kayak through untouched waters, hike historic sites, birdwatch among thriving native species, free dive or fish in the fiords, try paddle boarding, relax in the hot tub, or simply soak up the silence behind your camera lens – the choice is yours.
On this trip, we’ll spend at least a day and a half near Mamaku/Indian and Long Islands, working alongside onboard volunteers who will be actively supporting the project. They’ll share their stories around the dinner table, and you’re welcome to get as hands-on with conservation efforts as you wish.
