UTC-07:00Location
675 Belleville Street, Victoria, BC, Canada, British Columbia V8W 9W2 | Victoria, BC
Styled after pop-up operas, this event will feature local artists performing selections from composers like Schubert and Poulenc, alongside Indigenous music. Attendees will walk with a group from site to site within the museum to experience these short performances and take time to reflect as they journey through the Natural History gallery rainforest, Jonathan Hunt House, and Old Town, New Approach.
This event is a meaningful opportunity to engage with the themes of Truth and Reconciliation through the arts. The vision for this event is to create a fuller narrative of specific museum displays, using songs to evoke themes of fear, loss, community bonding, and bringing back the voices that have been lost in our urban landscape. Together, the museum and Pacific Opera developed a series of performances to reflect on what Truth and Reconciliation Day means to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
The tours are included with admission to the museum.
