Find Your Voice: Contemporary Monologue Workshop (Ages 15+)
Whether you're preparing for your next audition or simply want to become a stronger, more confident performer, this exciting four-week workshop will help you bring a character to life from the first line to the final moment.
Under the guidance of award-winning actor, playwright, and director Marc S. Sanders, each participant will select a contemporary dramatic or comedic monologue and develop it into a polished performance. Through personalized coaching and hands-on learning, you'll discover how to make stronger acting choices, connect authentically with your character, and captivate an audience.
Throughout the workshop, students will focus on:
- Selecting the right monologue for their age, type, and goals
- Breaking down a script to uncover character, objectives, and motivation
- Creating truthful emotional connections and believable performances
- Strengthening vocal expression, physicality, and stage presence
- Building confidence, memorization skills, and audition techniques
- Giving and receiving constructive feedback in a supportive environment
Classes meet four Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until approximately 12:00 p.m., giving participants time between sessions to rehearse and apply what they've learned.
The workshop concludes with two showcase performances, where students will present their finished monologues before an audience—a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their growth and gain valuable performance experience.
Whether you're returning to the stage, preparing for auditions, or looking to sharpen your acting skills, this workshop offers the tools, encouragement, and professional coaching to help you perform at your very best.
This program is FREE, but there are limited spaces available and advance registration is required.
Participants are expected to attend all four Saturday sessions and both showcase performances. Failure to attend all sessions and performances may result in removal from the program and may affect future audition opportunities at Carrollwood Players. Since space is limited, please only sign up if you feel confident you can be punctual and reliable, save for a dire emergency.
Session #1: Saturday, October 10th from 10 a.m. until approximately 12 p.m.
Session #2: Saturday, October 17th from 10 a.m. until approximately 12 p.m.
Session #3: Saturday, October 24th from 10 a.m. until approximately 12 p.m.
Session #4: Saturday, October 31st from 10 a.m. until approximately 12 p.m..
Showcase Performances: 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 7th (call time is 1 hour prior)

IMPORTANT - You are required to provide/purchase your own script/monologue. The ideal monologue should be no shorter than three minutes and no longer than five minutes. No two actors may perform the same monologue. Marc Sanders will contact you prior to the first session to discuss your monologue choice with you and will have approval authority of your selection. You are expected to bring your script to the first session so you are ready to being work.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: September 12th, 2026 (spaces may fill up before that date).
