I dare not whisper his name, but he—like so many others—stands against our very existence. And yet, here we are. The question before us is: how do we lift each other up, sharpen our focus, and build what we need to survive and thrive in this life? The answer, beloveds, is simple: we must Find Our Light.If this message finds you, it is also a call. I am inviting you to Find
Your Light: Black Girl Church—a non-religious gathering centering Cis and Trans Black Womyn. Together we will celebrate Black Womynhood, honor our collective journeys, and give thanks for the love that sustains us. Come to laugh, to eat well, to dance, to sing, and to ground yourself in what we know is true: Love is all there is.
The Find Your Light Ensemble will guide us as we journey inward and outward. We will be anchored by Valerie Troutt’s work-in-progress Guided Journal and Workbook, “Find Your Light”—a tool for untangling, rebuilding, and reclaiming brave spaces for Black Womyn.

Sliding Scale: $15–$30
Each gathering flows in three parts:
Black Girl Tea (1–1:30pm): Tea, refreshments, and connection
Black Girl Magic (1:30–3pm): Led by Valerie Troutt & the Find Your Light Ensemble (song, poetry, crafts, experiential learning)
Black Girl Party (3–4pm): dancing, community prayer, and meditation
The Vision of Find Your Light (FYL):
We are building a community rooted in trust, reciprocity, and resource-sharing among Black Womyn (and our trusted brothers). We dream of land, gardens, studios, and retreat spaces where we care for each other and grow together. Land has already been purchased in Northern California, with Phase One—our first retreat house, art studio, and garden—set for 2027.
But we need you. Are you a farmer, lawyer, healer, builder, artist, or entrepreneur? Bring your gifts. Teach what you know. Share your light.
